The butterfly valve, also known as the flap valve, is a kind of regulating valve with simple structure. It can also be used for on-off control of media in low pressure pipes.
Application range
The butterfly valve is used on pipes transporting various corrosive and non-corrosive fluid media in generating furnace, coal gas, natural gas, LPG, urban coal gas, hot & cold air, chemical smelting, power generation, environmental protection and other engineering systems for regulating and blocking flow of media.
Function and usage
The butterfly valve is a kind of valve whose closure member (disc or butterfly plate) is the round disc that rotates around the valve shaft to realize opening and closing. It is used for blocking and throttling on pipes. The closure member of the butterfly valve is a round disc butterfly plate, which rotates around its own axis inside the body, so as to realize the purpose of opening, closing or regulating. The angle is generally less than 90กใ from full open to full close. The butterfly valve and butterfly stem has no self-locking capacity. It is necessary to install the worm gear reducer on the stem for positioning of the butterfly plate. The use of the worm gear reducer not only enables the butterfly plate to have the self-locking capacity so as to make the butterfly plate stop at any position, but it can improve operation performances of the valve.
The industrial use butterfly valve has such features as high temperature resistance, wider applicable pressure range, and larger valve nominal diameter. The body is made of carbon steel. The seal ring of valve plate is made of metal ring instead of rubber ring. The large-sized high temperature butterfly valve is made of steel plate through welding, mainly used for flues and gas pipes of high temperature media. |
